Magic: The Gathering's The Hobbit released on 14 August 2026. We started recording its prices in week 31, before release — which means we caught what happened to early listing prices once the cards were actually being opened. Prices are TCGplayer market estimates in US dollars.

Those ten cards were listed at a combined $378 before release. Today they're worth under $6 together.
Before a set is out, the only prices are pre-order listings from the few sellers willing to guess — often round numbers like $37.99 or $99.99. Once boxes are opened, supply arrives all at once and prices find their real level. For most cards, that level is a small fraction of the guess.
Reality Fracture releases on 2 October 2026, and its early prices are already falling the same way: the cards we've tracked since week 31 are down 61% before the set is even out. If The Hobbit is any guide, buying singles for a deck right after release — rather than pre-ordering them — has been the cheaper choice.
