Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and TCG Swap when you use tcgswap.ie or the TCG Swap app. They're written to be read, so they're short. By creating an account or using TCG Swap you agree to them. How we handle your personal data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy.
1. About TCG Swap
TCG Swap is an independent project run from Ireland. It lets you look up trading cards, track your collection, build decks, trade cards with other players and find cards at local shops. We're not a shop: we don't sell cards and we don't take payment for them.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 to create an account, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms for you. You can only have the accounts you need — one player account each, plus a separate shop account if you run a shop.
3. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your email address up to date.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Tell us at support@tcgswap.ie if you think someone else has used it.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Your personal details are removed; the record of completed trades is kept in anonymised form, because the other player in each trade relies on it.
4. Using TCG Swap fairly
Don't:
- scam, mislead or harass other players, or offer cards you don't have;
- list counterfeit, proxy or stolen cards as genuine;
- post anything illegal, hateful, sexual, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- scrape, copy or resell our data in bulk, or use bots or automated tools against the site;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of TCG Swap.
We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules — see section 10.
5. Things you add
Collections, decks, photos, messages and other content you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and show it so TCG Swap can work — for example, showing a deck you've made public, or your trade photos to the player you're trading with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others still need it (such as the photos in a completed or disputed trade).
6. Trading with other players
- Trades are between you and the other player. TCG Swap isn't a party to them, doesn't own or hold the cards, and doesn't guarantee them.
- Before a trade goes ahead, both players add photo evidence of their cards and approve each other's. Only send or hand over cards once you're happy.
- Meet in a safe public place for in-person trades. For posted trades, use tracked postage and pack cards properly.
- There's a limit on the total value of a trade, which goes up as you complete trades successfully.
- If a trade goes wrong, open a dispute in the app. We'll look at the evidence from both sides and may close the trade, or restrict or suspend an account, but we can't force anyone to return cards or pay compensation, and our decision isn't a legal ruling. Your rights against the other player aren't affected.
7. Shops
Shops on TCG Swap are independent businesses. When you buy from a shop, you buy from them, at their price and on their terms, and your consumer rights are against the shop. Shops are responsible for their listings, prices, stock and for following consumer law. If you run a shop account, you confirm you're allowed to sell what you list and that your listings are accurate.
8. Prices and card information
Prices are estimates taken from third-party marketplaces (such as TCGplayer, Cardmarket and CardTrader) and change all the time. Card details and images come from third-party sources too. We work to keep them accurate but can't guarantee it, so check before you buy, sell or trade.
9. Links, affiliate links and emails
- Some links to other shops and marketplaces are affiliate or referral links: we may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. We aren't responsible for those sites.
- We send emails you need about your account and trades. Price-drop and other marketing emails are only sent if you choose to receive them, and you can unsubscribe from any of them in one click.
- TCG Swap is free. Donations are welcome but optional, and they don't unlock anything.
10. Suspending or closing accounts
We can suspend or close an account, or remove content, if it breaks these terms, puts other players at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond. We may also change or stop parts of TCG Swap; if we ever close it entirely we'll give notice so you can export your data first.
11. Our responsibility to you
TCG Swap is provided free and as it is. We'll take reasonable care running it, but it may sometimes be unavailable or have mistakes. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses caused by other players or shops, by trades or purchases, by relying on prices or card information, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
12. Trademarks
TCG Swap isn't affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast, The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK, Konami, Bandai or Disney. Card names, images and artwork belong to their owners and are used for identification and reference only.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as TCG Swap changes. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and may ask you to accept the new version. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
14. Law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland and the Irish courts can hear disputes about them. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of your own country's consumer laws and can bring a claim there. Please contact us first — most problems can be sorted out quickly.
